Firefighters Contain Long Branch Brush Fire
LONG BRANCH, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A stubborn brush fire in New Jersey has been contained, but fire officials said hot spots remain and are hoping rain will help extinguish the blaze.
The fire, which reached four alarms, broke out around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at a recycling plant on Atlantic Avenue in Long Branch.
Special foam trucks were brought in to put out the flames and fire crews worked through the night, using bulldozers to break up burning debris and protect nearby homes.
There were no reports of injuries or evacuations.
The recycling center was not damaged.
The fire is under investigation.
