Firefighters Battle Early Morning House Fire In Carteret
CARTERET, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A quick-moving fire destroyed a house early Monday morning in New Jersey.
The blaze broke out at a home on Frederick Street in Carteret around 5:30 a.m.
Firefighters from Carteret and Woodbridge responded to the fire, CBS 2's Jim Smith reported. Video from the scene showed smoke and flames coming from the roof of the home.
A man walking his dog alerted the sleeping residents inside.
"My son came over and grabbed one of them out of the window and I opened the door, got them to unlock the door," said witness David Mendoza. "We asked where the parents were, they said they were working so nobody else was in the house."
Two men and a family dog were rescued. No injuries have been reported.
It's still unclear how the fire started.
