Fighter Jets Scrambled After Small Plane Violates Airspace During Obama Conn. Visit
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Federal Aviation Administration said a small plane violated Presidential airspace Monday night.
Two F-15 fighter jets were scrambled to escort the homemade aircraft to MacArthur Airport in Islip.
The FAA said the aircraft entered restricted airspace over Long Island around 6:30 p.m.
The airspace where the plane was flying was off limits during President Barack Obama's campaign trip to Stamford, Conn., earlier in the day.
An investigation is underway and there is no word yet if the pilot will face charges.
