NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Fifth Annual New York City Food Film Festival will kick off its four day celebration of cinema and cuisine Thursday with an evening of pure gluttony at "A Cheers to Burgers and Beers."
Headed up by hamburger expert George Motz, the night of grass-fed beef and excellent brews from around the country will also be a charitable cause, as its benefiting The Food Bank for NYC.
Showing on the screen that night at Tribeca Cinemas will be the premiere of Burgerlution, a film on how the humble hamburger has gone from fast food to high-end.

If South American food is more your style, then Friday night's "Edible Adventure #3: Mistura + More" will be something to check out.
Mistura is an annual Peruvian food festival that has grown into one of the largest in the world since it started three years ago. The night will showcase Mistura: The Power of Food, a documentary about on the food festival.
The festival continues all weekend. Saturday includes a Taco Takedown competition, during which contestants and spectators can chow down on off-menu Chipotle items - not to mention an ample amount of tacos for the actual competition.
In keeping with the theme, other food will be provided by La Newyorkina, Dos Toros Taqueria, Rockaway Taco, and Tortilleria Nixtamal among others. That night, things get a little racy at "The Food Porn Party" presented by Metro NY. A number of films will be shown while guests nibble on select dishes from one of New York's newest restaurants, Saxon + Parole.
Sunday's events start with a very special pizza lunch. Brooklyn's Di Fara Pizza is considered some of the best in the city, and for one day only, owner Domenico DeMarco will be serving up his famous pies in Manhattan.

Alongside his pies will be the Lower East Side's Vietnamese eatery An Choi serving up their banh mi.
The final event of this foodie weekend will be Sunday night's "Farm to Film to Table" which will have an exclusive screening of "Truck Farm". Truck Farm was a project done in the bed of a 1986 Dodge pickup to bring an edible exhibit of agricultural life to urban students.
Guests will also be screened "A Midwinter Soup Frenzy" and a trailer for an upcoming film on Ronnybrook Dairy, "The Big Table". To accompany that screening, there will be a special Ronnybrook ice cream sundae bar for the guests to indulge in.
