Felton's Hand Goes From Bad To Worse; Knicks' Amar'e 'Making Progress'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Knicks may have to play Wednesday night's game in Phoenix without point guard Raymond Felton.
Already battling a bone bruise, Felton's shooting hand was further banged-up in a collision with Steve Nash in the third quarter of Tuesday's 100-94 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
"Steve and I went for the ball. I tried to grab it and bent the finger to the outside," said Felton, who suffered a right pinkie sprain. "We'll see how it feels tomorrow. Right now it hurts like hell."
Felton finished 5-for-19 for 10 points, six assists and two steals. He missed nine of 10 shots after the injury.
Though the 28-year-old wouldn't count himself out, he might be forced to sit against the Suns on Wednesday.
Felton also has a bone bruise in his left hand.
"If it bothers me the way it did in the fourth quarter where I couldn't shoot the ball like I wanted to — or pass the ball — I am not going to play on it," he said.
Also on Tuesday, forward Amar'e Stoudemire said "it's possible" he could make his 2012-13 debut on New Year's Day when the Knicks host Portland. Stoudemire has been out all season after surgery on his left knee.
"I'm not quite there yet, but I'm making progress," Stoudemire said. "I've just got to stay patient and stay ready."
