Feathers Fly At Washington Square Park For International Pillow Fight Day
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There were no fists, just foam and sometimes feathers at a fight at Washington Square Park Saturday.
More than 100 cities around the world, including New York City, took part in the 7th annual International Pillow Fight Day.
Craig went to Washington Square Park with his daughter and two sons.
"It's just a way to let off some steam and just, have some fun; something different, safe type fun," he told 1010 WINS.
Dan and his friend came down from Albany for a Rangers game, but couldn't help themselves when they heard about the pillow fight.
"The largest pillow fight I've ever been in was like three people; very pathetic. But this is, this is a big deal," he said.
Elenne said the best part about the pillow fight is just acting like a kid again.
"You can't do this stuff as an adult, nobody's going to be OK with that," she said. "This as close as it gets to relieving some tension."
The event only has a few rules: don't hit anyone without a pillow; don't hit anyone with a camera; and take your pillow home with you.
Organizers of the pillow fight in Washington Square Park said last year, they donated more than 1,500 slightly used pillows to homeless shelters in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
