"One of our neighbors rang the door bell that there is a fire in the building," he said. His apartment suffered some water damage, but he credits firefighters with saving the building and ensuring the situation didn't get any worse.

Deputy Fire Chief James Nichols said the blaze was "very tough" to fight because it was "mostly confined to the top floor...of the building."

There is no word yet on what started the blaze.
