FBI: 'Serial Bank Robber' Hits Seventh Tri-State Area Bank
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The FBI is searching for a suspect who has held up seven banks in the Tri-State area over the last three months, authorities said Tuesday.
The most recent heist happened Oct. 17 at a bank in New Rochelle. Authorities said he walked into a Chase Bank on North Avenue, passed a note to the teller, threatened to use a weapon and demanded money, the FBI said.
He then took off on foot with an unknown amount of cash.
The suspect is also believed to be connected to bank robberies in Linden and Woodbridge, New Jersey, two in Fairfield, Conn. and two in Greenwich, Conn., authorities said.
"Today, we're enlisting the public's help in identifying and locating this serial bank robber" Assistant FBI Director in Charge George Venizelos said in a statement. "Someone, somewhere, knows something about this individual. We are asking them to pick up the phone and call the FBI."
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 5-feet and 5-feet-4-inches tall with a light in complexion.
He was last seen wearing a gray, long-sleeved T-shirt with "Cowboy Up" on the back, dark blue jeans and black boots. He was also wearing a Miami Marlins baseball hat.
