FBI Offers $20K Reward In Bid To Arrest New Jersey Car Dealer
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of a luxury car dealer in New Jersey who is accused of engaging in a pattern of fraud.
Authorities claim Afzal "Bobby'' Khan defrauded customers of and lenders to Emporio Motor Group in Ramsey from at least December 2013 through September 2014.
More than 75 people have filed complaints against Khan.
Authorities allege Khan obtained loans for vehicles that he had no title for and sold autos on consignment but never paid the owners or gave the buyers the titles.
The Egg Harbor Township resident could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of wire fraud.
The FBI describes Khan as a 33-year-old white man, about 5'10" and weighing 180 pounds with a medium complexion, blue eyes and black hair and a scar on his right arm.
Authorities said Khan has ties to and may travel to the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the United Kingdom and Pakistan.
