FBI Halts Search For Possible Mob Victims On L.I.
EAST FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) -- The FBI has ceased digging at a Long Island industrial park where the body of a mob underboss was found two years ago. Nothing was found this time.
The FBI said agents from the evidence response team and organized crime branch spent three days this week digging at an East Farmingdale location. The target of the search reportedly was an alleged mob informant killed in 1995.
In 2008, agents retrieved the remains of Colombo family underboss William Cutolo near the same site. Two mob rivals are serving life prison terms in that killing.
Agents also spent several days in the area in March 2009 looking in vain for another victim of possible mob violence.
