NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The head of the FBI spent the day in Newark Monday, meeting with federal, state and local law enforcement officials.

As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, the FBI Director James Comey talked after the meeting about the country's most pressing concern.

He said the threat from ISIS in the U.S. is real, but it is not necessarily coming from someone who trained overseas.

"The primary way in which we worry about them bringing their poison and their savagery to the streets is through motivating people already in the United States to act on their behalf," Comey said.

Comey said as of now, there was no credible <a href="http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/10/23/nypd-beefing-up-security-at-locations-tied-to-canada/"threat of an attack.

"There's no doubt that they aspire to do that kind of thing," he said.

Comey said since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the terror threat has metastasized.
