Father Arrested For Allegedly Abducting 2-Year-Old Son From Conn.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- A father is under arrest after allegedly abducting his young son from the child's home in Connecticut.

An Amber Alert was issued when authorities say 29-year-old Roberto Mones took his son, 2-year-old Christopher Joac, after assaulting the boy's mother in Bridgeport overnight.

Mones and Joac were found early Thursday morning in a vehicle on I-287 in New Jersey.

Police were reportedly able to track Mones using his cell phone.

Authorities say the child was safe and unharmed and have since canceled the Amber Alert.

No word yet on the official charges against his father.
