'FASTRACK' Repairs Mean Service Disruptions On 1, 2 And 3 Subway Lines
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Operation FASTRACK is back.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is shutting down large sections of the 1, 2, and 3 subway lines from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in both directions through Friday.

There will be no No. 1 service between 34th Street-Penn Station and South Ferry; the No. 2 train will be suspended in both directions from 34th Street-Penn Station to Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn; 3 line service will be shut down entirely.
"It's going to cause problems for some, but ultimately though it needs doing," Financial District worker Tom Wallace told CBS 2's Sean Hennessey on Monday night.
"I would say get it done as soon as possible," Upper West Side resident Danielle Basan added.
"It's really frustrating more than anything," said Adam Gandola of Park Slope.
The MTA said 4 trains and free shuttle buses will cover the missed stops on the 3 line.
Last month, the MTA introduced the FASTRACK program on the Lexington Avenue line.
The agency said work crews were able to complete 300 tasks including repairing platforms, scraping peeling paint and applying fresh coats, installing new lighting, cleaning tracks, repairing defects and conducting critical inspections of signals and switches.
The next FASTRACK closure will be on the Sixth Avenue BDF lines from Feb. 27 to March 2.
