Fashion Designer Sylvie Cachay's Doctor Debunks Defense's Claim Of Accidental Drowning
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Testimony continued Tuesday in the murder trial of slain fashion designer Sylvie Cachay.
The jury heard from Cachay's personal physician on Tuesday. She told the jury that Cachay was taking five prescription medications at the time of her death for fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition, and for insomnia.
Cachay's boyfriend Nicholas Brooks, 26, has been charged with her murder. Her partially clothed body was found submerged in a bath tub at the posh Soho House Hotel in Dec. 2010.

The Medical Examiner ruled she died of strangulation and drowning.
Brooks' defense attorney tried to show that, when acting together, those drugs could have caused Cachay to pass out, fall into the bath tub and drown accidentally.
On cross-examination, the doctor testified that the medications Cachay was taking would not have caused that scenario because none of the pills "have a great sleepiness result."
She said Cachay was responsible in the way she managed her medications.
In testimony earlier in the trial, friends of Cachay, 33, said the swimsuit designer complained that Brooks was a directionless slacker. Some witnesses testified that Cachay told them she was planning to break up with Brooks just weeks before her death.
Brooks' attorney has previously acknowledged that his client and Cachay had a rocky relationship, but noted that Brooks' DNA was never found near the bathtub faucets.
The trial is expected to go through early July.
