Fare Hike Approved; Bridge, Tunnel Tolls Next
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - October 27 is T Day.

That's the day the MTA will reveal its decision on how much to raise bridge and tunnel tolls.
Plan 1 is an across the board hike of 50 cents at major crossings, $1 at the Verrazano, and 25 cents at the smaller bridges.
MTA Chairman Jay Walder says plan 2 would spare E-ZPass users and discourage cash customers by proposing "to raise cash tolls by a dollar over and above the increase that had been proposed while holding down the E-ZPass proposal."
Walder calls the second idea "interesting."

Meanwhile, WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reports riders on the New Haven Line will avoid the fare hikes, but will be subject to some changes.
