Jets Fan Runs For 80 Yards At Meadowlands Stadium
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — A man jumped onto the field at the New Meadowlands Stadium in the third quarter of the game between the Houston Texans and New York Jets.
The fan came on the field from the corner of one end zone Sunday and dashed across the turf for about 80 yards before tripping and then being jumped on by several security officers, including two New Jersey State troopers.
The man, wearing a maroon sweater, was handcuffed and led away from the field.
While the man was running, Jets coach Rex Ryan was shown laughing on the stadium's videoboards.
On the next play, Santonio Holmes scored on a 41-yard touchdown catch to give the Jets a 20-7 lead with 4:38 left in the third quarter.
