Family Of Slain Bronx Teen Calls For Justice
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The mother and girlfriend of a murder victim are making a plea for justice.
Teddy Beckles, 19, of the Bronx, was stabbed to death outside Independence High School on Manhattan's West Side last Thursday while trying to help his girlfriend who was involved in a fight between two groups of girls, police said.
Beckles got her out of harm's way but then at least four people chased him down and stabbed him, police said. He was rushed to the hospital and into surgery, but later died.
No arrests have been made in the case.
"They pinned my son down on the ground and stabbed him in his chest and just walked away like dogs," Beckles' mother Ena Griffin said. "I'm a single mother. All I tried to ever do was raise my son to the best of our abilities and I believe in God and I truly believe that something good will come of this but justice needs to be served."
"He was loving. He wasn't looking for any trouble, now my baby's gonna grow up wondering who his father is," Beckles' girlfriend Marissa Floram said.
Beckles had previously dropped out of high school but recently re-enrolled and was looking for a job.
