Political Signs Reported Stolen On Long Island As Election Day Approaches
MINEOLA, NY (WCBS 880) - You could say 'Tis the season for stealing politicial signs' on Long Island.

WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall has heard from both Democrats and Republicans claiming signs have been stolen in the middle of the night.
"A worker who has a particular precinct and wants to impress his boss may say 'You know. I'm gonna go out and see what I can do to reduce the number of lawn signs that his opponent has,'" said Larry Levy, a Hofstra University dean for the National Center of Suburban Studies. "Of course, it's not right. It could even be illegal under certain circumstances."
Levy says there are usually more signs in the suburbs.
"As the suburbs become more important, these lawn signs are going to play more and more of a role, and as they play more and more of a role, one side or another is going to be tempted to try to mess with his opponent's message," Levy told Hall.
But, Levy said it's still up in the air if the signs even sway people to vote for one candidate over another.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
