Faith Hill Celebrates Our Strength And Diversity In 'American Heart' Video
"I like America because it has good people."
"We're different on the outside, but we're the same on the inside."
Those are just two of the lines from a few of the kids featured at the front of Faith Hill's video for her new single "American Heart." Faith hasn't even appeared, or begun singing, but already the video has tugged a few heartstrings and made a strong play for our attention.
The video is centered around a song-and-dance routine between Faith and a young boy. Both dressed in black suits, they bounce around a spotlit stage to the tune of Faith's latest single. In the background are white stage lights, then fireworks, and, finally, a large heart full of electric lights in the colors of the American flag.
And the point of the song is that an "American Heart" is a strong, resilient thing of beauty. "It bleeds, it scars, but it shines when times get hard," Faith sings.
As Faith told Sacramento station KNCI, the song brought her to tears. "I just thought ‘wow, this is something I needed to be reminded of.’”
The video was directed by Trey Fanjoy, and Faith's costar is 10-year-old T.J. Jones. "TJ is a star. That kid personifies raw talent," Faith told Billboard.
Faith Hill is expected to release a new album in 2013. In addition, she and her husband Tim McGraw will launch a series of live shows in Las Vegas in December.
