N.J. Husband & Wife Accused Of Attacking 23-Year-Old With Golf Club In Road Rage Incident
FAIR LAWN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A road rage incident turned violent in New Jersey, sending two men to the hospital.
Now, a husband and wife are facing charges for the attack, CBS2's Scott Rapoport reported Monday.
Video shows police and EMS responding to a violent incident on River Road in Fair Lawn. Two men, an attacker and his victim, are seen on stretchers, being loaded into ambulances after cops said the driver of a van attacked the driver of a smaller vehicle with a golf club.
"People are so crazy. You've got to be so careful," Fair Lawn resident Marie Loranca said.
Police said the incident happened Sunday at around 7 p.m. near Walgreens. They said 44-year-old Mariusz Czerwinski and his 42-year-old wife, Sylwia, of Clifton pulled their van in front of the 23-year-old driver of another car on the side of the road.
Police said Czerwinski got out and started arguing with the other driver, that things got heated, and that Czerwinski went back to his van, got a golf club, and hit the victim in the head with it.
Police said the victim jumped on Czerwinski, fighting back, and that's when Czerwinski's wife picked up the same golf club and started hitting the victim with it.
"I think people are getting insane. I think people are just going insane nowadays," Fair Lawn resident Laura Maxwell said.
Now, the husband and wife are facing charges, including aggravated assault with a weapon.
Police said the victim was treated and released from a local hospital, after being assaulted with a golf club on the side of the road.
