FAA Investigating Claims That Passengers On Justin Bieber's Plane To Teterboro Interfered With Flight Crew
NEW JERSEY (CBSNewYork) -- There is new controversy surrounding Justin Bieber's private plane that landed in Teterboro Airport a little more than a week ago.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirms it is investigating allegations that passengers aboard Bieber's plane interfered with the flight crew, CBS 2 reported.
Law enforcement sources reportedly told CNN that the pop star and his father were verbally abusive to the flight attendant during the flight.
The plane landed in New Jersey on Jan. 31, just before the Super Bowl.
Customs agents and other officers boarded the chartered plane soon after it landed — smelling what they thought might be marijuana.
The pilots also reportedly put oxygen masks on to prevent accidentally inhaling marijuana, CBS 2 reported.
Bieber was questioned while investigators searched the jet's cabin for drugs. Ultimately, nothing was found, CBS 2 previously reported.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection declined to comment on the incident.
"While we are not at liberty to discuss an individual's processing due to the Privacy Act, our CBP officers are charged with enforcing not only immigration and customs laws, but they also enforce over 400 laws for 40 other agencies and have stopped thousands of violators of U.S. law," the agency said in a statement.
Interfering with flight crew is considered a violation of federal law.
