FAA: Cuomo's Plane Was Redirected After Landing Gear Failure
ALBANY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday that Gov. Andrew Cuomo's private plane had to be redirected last week, after the landing gear failed to deploy.
The FAA issued a statement Wednesday detailing the incident to the Associated Press. Cuomo spokeswoman Melissa DeRosa says the governor was not on board the plane when it was redirected Dec. 10.
The FAA said Cuomo's plane was headed to pick him up after a press event on Long Island on Dec. 10. It says the plane returned to Albany mid-flight because of the landing gear problem.
DeRosa said the gear was fixed during the return flight on the 25-year-old Beechcraft BE-200.
DeRosa said Cuomo had to ride back in a state police vehicle from Farmingdale, Long Island.
She said the plane is now fixed.
