Expert: Super Bowl Tickets In Short Supply, High Demand

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Let the two weeks of NFL nuttiness begin!

It'll be hard to escape the hype, especially with the NFC champion New York Giants headed for the Super Bowl in an epic rematch with the New England Patriots on Feb. 5.

Now that Giants' fans have had the chance to buy the newly-minted NFC champion hats, t-shirts and oversized foam hands that appeared within hours of Big Blue's big win over the 49ers in San Francisco, the only thing left on the pigskin wish list is a pair of Super Bowl tickets.

Super Seats USA spokesman Matthew Kenny tells 1010 WINS the bottom price you can expect to pay per ticket is $2,800.

"The market for tickets is very dynamic, and what that means is it's kind of like the stock market -- prices go up and down based on demand," Kenny said. "A lot of people are excited and they're going to pay up big early on. Usually prices settle down a little bit later in the week and then you get a better idea of what's going to happen as far as what the price will ultimately be."

Kenny said since the Giants and Patriots are big market teams with a lot of financial resources and the stadium can only seat about 70,000 people, tickets are going to be in short supply and high demand.

He doesn't believe traveling to Indianapolis in February will keep fans away from the game.

"I'm sure a lot of people would rather go down to Miami but it's the Super Bowl," Kenny said. "If it's your team, and youre passionate about it, it's going to be exciting and you're going to want to go."
