Exhibit Of John Lennon's Artwork On Display In SoHo
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - On what would have been John Lennon's 73rd birthday, an exhibition of his drawings went on display to help raise money for Citymeals-on-Wheels.
The exhibit, being held at a gallery called 72 Green Street runs through Monday.
The 100 drawings and song writings were created by the late Beatle between 1964 and 1980, the year he was shot outside his Manhattan apartment building.

As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, some of the pen and ink drawings are self-portraits while others are whimsical.
"The nature of his drawings are pretty simple for the most part, cartoonish almost. You'll see a look into his head," exhibit producer Rudy Siegel told Haskell. "Very, very cool stuff with some amazing history."
Proceeds from the suggested $3 donation will benefit the nonprofit group that supplies meals to the city's homebound elderly.
"I'm hoping that we reach $20,000, which is about what we did last year and it's huge for us," Citymeals-on-Wheels executive director Beth Shapiro told Haskell. "Every meal that we deliver is $6.42, $20,000 goes a long way."
The exhibition is being presented by Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, and Bag One Arts and Legacy Fine Arts and Productions.
All the works in the show are available for purchase.
