Ex-Giant Tyler Sash Zapped With Stun Gun After Fleeing Police On Scooter
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Former New York Giants safety Tyler Sash is facing charges of public intoxication and interference with official acts in Iowa after fleeing police on his motorized scooter, according to Oskaloosa officials.
Officers used a stun gun to subdue Sash after finding the uncooperative 25-year-old behind a tree, authorities said.
Sash fled when police attempted to pull him over early Saturday for riding his scooter on a main road with his lights off, Oskaloosa Police Chief Jake McGee said, according to USA Today. He made a run for the woods after leading officers on a four-block chase on his scooter, McGee said.
Sash was found around 2 a.m., zapped, arrested and brought to Mahaska County Jail, officials said.
Police said Sash smelled of alcohol and refused a sobriety test, according to KCCI-TV. He plans to plead not guilty, the station reported.
Sash was drafted out of Iowa in the sixth round in 2011, winning the Super Bowl in his rookie year with the Giants. He was released prior to last season.
