Ex-Giant Harry Carson To Consider Running For Congress
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Hall of Famer and former New York Giants linebacker Harry Carson says he's considering a run for Congress in New Jersey.
Reached by phone, Carson recently told The Associated Press he hasn't made a definitive decision yet but is thinking about it. He lives in Franklin Lakes.
Carson spent his entire professional career, from 1976 to 1988, with the Giants. Carson could afford to finance his own campaign and has name recognition.
Although he has never held public office, he has been talking to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee about the idea of running.
The idea became more attractive last month after the redrawing of congressional districts and resulting moves left Republican Rep. Scott Garrett without a Democratic challenger.
A spokesman for Garrett didn't return a call seeking comment.
