Ex-Airline Agent Pleads Guilty To Fraud In NY
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A former Continental Airlines sales agent has pleaded guilty to wire fraud stemming from a $1 million Ponzi scheme involving the sale of hundreds of fake airline ticket vouchers.
The plea by Victoria Scardigno was announced by the U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan. She could spend up to 20 years in prison. She also must pay restitution.
Prosecutors said Scardigno, who worked at Newark Liberty airport, sold the fake vouchers for $500 to $600 each. They say she deposited $1 million into her bank account.
