Epileptic Teen Charged In His Mother's Murder Given Bail Package
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has taken the extraordinary step of agreeing to a bail package for Henry Wachtel that centered around treatment in a secure medical facility.
The 19-year old has been jailed since early April when he was accused of bludgeoning his mother to death during an epileptic seizure, WCBS 880's Irene Cornell reported Thursday.
His mother, Karyn Kay, who was a LaGuardia High School teacher, was heard yelling, "Help, help, he's attacking me," as she called 911.

She was in the habit of holding her son to keep him from harming himself during his seizures, prosecutors said.
The bail package involves releasing Wachtel from jail to a secure medical facility where he can be studied and treated.
The boy was also heard screaming "Mommy, mommy, please don't die," as the violent episode came to an end.
Wachtel was rushed out of the courthouse to a car waiting to take him to the psychiatric facility, Cornell reported.
