'Entourage' Creator: Eli Manning Stood My Show Up, And I'm Still Angry
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- "Entourage" creator Doug Ellin, a Long Island kid, loves the Giants.
But he's not too happy with their quarterback.
Why?
Ellin recently told Yahoo Sports' Graham Bensinger that, years ago, Eli Manning reached out to him personally about wanting to appear on the show. Ellin proceeded to write the two-time Super Bowl MVP into a scene, he told the website, and sent in the script.
But he never heard back from Big Blue's signal caller despite calling him repeatedly.
"I was going crazy," Ellin told Yahoo Sports. "Beyond frustrating."
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ended up replacing Manning on the show.
"(Brady) was just awesome," Ellin told the website. "He was easy to work with and was happy to be there. We called him for the movie and he showed up the same way."
Ellin told Bensinger that Manning never ended up reaching out to him, though his agent did and said that the Giant just wanted to focus on football at the time.
"I kind of went crazy," Ellin recalled, "and said, 'No, I don't understand.' He works hard. I work hard. I didn't call him, he called me ... I love the Giants so much. But if Russell Wilson was the quarterback of the Giants, I would be a happier person."
Ouch.
The "Entourage" movie's release date is June 3.
