VIDEO: 22-Year-Old Female Employee Fights Back Against Armed Robber

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- A young woman fought back after an armed man attempted to rob the store she was working at, police said.

The 22-year-old woman was working at the Boost Mobile store on Broadway in Astoria, Queens on July 15 when a man entered the location at around 7:43 p.m.

Police said the man demanded money and told her not to scream, but the woman did begin screaming and throwing random objects at him. She continued the fight and the suspect ultimately fled the scene leaving empty-handed.

The woman was not injured. A coworker told 1010 WINS' Darius Radzius the employee is at home, still shaken from the encounter.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic man wearing long sleeved purple shirt with METRO PCS written on it, black shorts, black sneakers, a black Yankee baseball cap and dark sunglasses.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
