Emergency Room Up And Running Again In Long Beach
LONG BEACH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Devastated by superstorm Sandy, Long Beach Medical Center has reopened its emergency department.

"Our entire basement system was flooded and that's where most of our mechanical, electrical systems are located, our pharmacy, our laundry services," said hospital spokesperson Sharon Player.
With assistance and equipment supplied by Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey and the federal government, the hospital has established its emergency department in a parking lot across the street.
Assistant administrator Cheryl Chapman said they are on their way back from absolute devastation.
"I'm at the hospital 39 years. This is the worst that we have ever, ever seen," she said.
It remains unclear when the full hospital will be able to reopen.
