Eliot Spitzer Doles Out Advice In New Book As Campaign Kicks Off
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork/AP) -- Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has decided to offer life advice in the form of a new book as he kicks off his campaign for City Comptroller.
The book titled 'Protecting Capitalism, Case By Case' offers, among other things, a series of rules for life which include placing a premium on loyalty and financial duty.
Earlier this week Spitzer submitted 27,000 petition signatures to land a spot on the Democratic Primary ballot, he only needed 3,750.
On Friday Spitzer appeared on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno". Leno, who has poked at Spitzer's re-entrance to New York City's politics since the former attorney general announced Sunday he was running to be the city's comptroller, asked him straight up: "Why enter at the 11th hour?''
Spitzer said that after all he'd done in the past five years he finally thought, "You know what, there's a position there, which I've written about, thought about, the Comptroller's position, from which I think I can actually serve,'' he said. "And I said to myself I want to contribute through public service.''
