Electric Car Charging Stations Opening In Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. (AP) -- The Norwalk Parking Authority and Car Charging Group Inc., a provider of electric vehicle charging services, are celebrating the opening of the first electric vehicle charging stations in a municipal parking area in Fairfield County.
The event will take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the eastbound side of the South Norwalk Train Station. Six charging stations for public use have been installed in Norwalk, two each in the train station, the Maritime Garage and the Yankee Doodle Garage.
Mayor Richard Moccia says the city is preparing for an influx of electric vehicles.
Car Charging Group CEO Michael D. Farkas noted that Connecticut was chosen as one of the seven markets where Chevy launched its Volt electric vehicle and Nissan and Ford are introducing electric vehicles.
