Economic Growth Expected To Continue This Year In Connecticut
STAMFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- A continued economic recovery for 2013 has been forecast for Connecticut by a Federal Reserve Bank economist who spoke to businesspeople in Stamford Friday.
As WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reported, it is not time to pop the champagne cork just yet. But Chris Bruehl, head of the Business Council of Fairfield County, said council members were reassured by the outlook from Federal Reserve Bank economist Rae Rosen.
Economic Growth Expected To Continue This Year In Connecticut
The net from Rosen, Bruehl said, is that the steady growth of 2012 in Connecticut will continue into this year.
As for the jobs outlook, it is bullish for certain skilled workers.
"Anyone who has IT skills, app development and other programming skills, accounting, tax skills legal and accounting, they're all looking for people to work," Bruehl said.
And Rosen said Fairfield County is reaping benefits because of its proximity to Manhattan.
"The real estate market is tightening there, both in terms of pricing for residential and in terms of office vacancies, so that usually benefits Fairfield very nicely," she said.
