East River Ferry Ridership Strong After Initial Free Period

After two weeks of free rides, East River Ferry officials say their new service from Brooklyn and Queens to Manhattan continues to exceed expectations.
They began charging on Saturday.
Commuters like Francisco say they absolutely love the hassle-free nature of this ride.
"It's just a different perspective from the hustle and bustle and all the rowdy commuters," says Francisco.
Others rave about the spectacular views from the river.
"You get to see a totally different side of the city," says John Calico. "You get to appreciate where we live. It's worth like five times the price."
The price is $4 for a one-way ticket.
"It's a low fee. You can't complain. It's always good people," says rider Frank Rosario. "It's just amazing."
The ferry makes the following stops: East 34th Street / Midtown, Manhattan; Hunters Point / Long Island City, Queens; India Street / Greenpoint, Brooklyn; North 6th Street / North Williamsburg, Brooklyn; Schaefer Landing / South Williamsburg, Brooklyn; Brooklyn Bridge Park / DUMBO, Brooklyn; and Wall Street / Pier 11, Manhattan.
There is also seasonal service to Atlantic Avenue / Brooklyn Bridge Park and Governors Island.
