Duchess Ferguson Talks New Book, Kate & William On The Couch
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, is a best selling author.
Her latest book, Ballerina Rosie, is for aspiring ballet dancers. She admits the children's book is a bit autobiographical, as she went to ballet school and things never seemed to go quite right. But the book isn't about her.
It's about empowering kids.
"Giving confidence, I think, literally is so important for children," the duchess said on The Couch. "I think education is the root out of poverty, because it teaches them survival, but also it is the root for a unique individual, and I think that is really important."

Duchess Ferguson hopes the book teaches children to "strive on."
"I never give up, and that's what I was saying [in the book]," she said. "Just keep on going."

That's why she always tells her daughters, Princess Beatrice of York and Princess Eugenie of York. And that's what she tells the readers of Ballerina Rosie.
"I believe in magic, I believe i fairies and pixies and I believe you get up today and everything's good," she said. "So that's how I write."
