DRPA To Consider Delaying Toll Hikes
CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) -- The Delaware River Port Authority was set to again consider whether to delay toll increases and PATCO fare hikes.
Wednesday's meeting is to be the third in three weeks on the issue.
The DRPA's financial advisers don't support a delay, fearing it could lower bond ratings and jeopardize loans. But some DRPA commissioners says commuters should be spared the pain.
A 10 percent increase for PATCO train passengers is scheduled to start on Jan. 1. Tolls on the Betsy Ross, Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman and Commodore Barry bridges are scheduled to jump to $5 from $4 for Philadelphia-bound drivers on July 1.
