DRPA To Consider Delaying Toll Hike Until 2012
CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) -- The Delaware River Port Authority was weighing whether to delay a long-planned toll hike.
The agency originally planned to raise tolls earlier this year on its four Philadelphia area bridges to $5 from $4, but was able to push back the increase to July 2011. The tolls are one-way, paid only by Pennsylvania-bound motorists.
Now some board members for an agency that's under scrutiny for its ethics want to delay the increase until 2012.
They said the delay would work financially, but there's a possible hang-up: Bond rating agencies expect the increased revenue. So some board members don't want to put off hikes unless they know their credit will hold up.
A vote could come Wednesday.
