Investigators Believe Van Ran Red Light Before Colliding With MTA Bus
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork/AP) -- Investigators believe an airport shuttle van ran a red light moments before it collided with a New York City bus Friday night.
The accident happened on Northern Boulevard at Prince Street in Flushing, Queens, CBS 2 reported.
A police spokesman said that the preliminary investigation indicates that the 2009 Ford van did not stop as it traveled east on Northern Boulevard around 10 p.m.
The van collided with the Q12 bus as the bus was making a left turn from Northern to Prince Street
Drivers Critical After MTA Bus, Van Collide In Queens
The bus driver sustained a serious leg injury and was transported to New York Hospital Queens. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
The MTA bus was off-duty at the time, the driver was the only person onboard.
The van driver and the eight other people on board all suffered minor injuries.
The police spokesman said Saturday it was not immediately clear what charges the driver may face.
