Driver Stabs Passenger In Jersey City After Fight Over Destination
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man in Jersey City apparently stabbed one of the passengers in his car, after getting angry because the passengers wouldn't tell them where they wanted to be dropped off.
The passengers told The Jersey City Journal they had been hanging out with the driver at a nightclub in Union City on Thursday night. They asked him for a ride home and he obliged, but he began getting angry after driving around without being given an address to drop them off, the newspaper reported.
Eventually, the man pulled over at Manhattan and Tonnelle avenues in Jersey City and kicked everyone out his car, the newspaper reported. It was not clear exactly how many passengers there were.
But one passenger, identified only as a 19-year-old man who had paid the driver $10 for the ride, refused to leave. So the driver dragged him out of the car, stabbed him in the back and the thigh, and drove off, witnesses said.
Witnesses told the newspaper the victim only knew the knifeman by nickname, but police as of Saturday morning had leads on the suspect's identity.
