Driver Smashes Into N.J. Cadillac Showroom After Police Chase
WATCHUNG, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A police chase involving a stolen vehicle and a possible kidnapping ended when the driver crashed into a central New Jersey Cadillac dealership early Saturday, damaging a dozen vehicles.
It was unclear whether anyone in the vehicle was injured in the crash, and the driver's name was not released. But authorities said the driver was issued numerous traffic tickets and could face further charges, pending the ongoing investigation.
The pursuit began around 2 a.m. Saturday in Piscataway, but was quickly ended due to safety concerns.
The pursuit then resumed a short time later in nearby Dunellen, where officers pursued the car until it crashed on Route 22 in Watchung.
Dealership officials estimate that about $300,000 worth of damage was done to their cars and a showroom window.
