The driver -- Zahurul Alam, 20 -- was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were left in critical condition following the accident, Schuck reported.
The accident happened right in front of the home of Ronald Goldman.
"A huge sound – it sounded like metal on metal, but apparently it wasn't. It was metal on the tree," Goldman said. "The amazing thing was that the car – I don't know how it got there – the car was under the side of the tree, between the benches and the tree instead of between the benches and the road."
The surviving victims – ages 20 and 23 – were both taken to Lutheran Medical Center.
