Driver Charged In Crash That Left NYC Teen Critical
NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- A man from Florida was facing drunk driving and other charges Monday in connection with an accident that left a Bronx teen in critical condition.
Emily Sexton, 17, suffered two broken legs, a broken arm, and internal injuries. She was standing with friends on the sidewalk along City Island Avenue Saturday night when she was hit.
Witnesses said the driver, 40-year-old Peter Wolfman, was speeding moments before he tried to make a u-turn.
"I see a girl on a car, like pinned in the car and the wall and he backs up and she falls then he gets out and he faints," said witness Nina Fiallo.
"When he hopped out he kinda fell down right away, but when people came over to him he said no, help her," said witness Kevin Fanning.
Witnesses said they saw the driver stumbling out of a bar just moments before the crash. Wolfman was charged with driving while intoxicated.
