Drew Brees On WFAN: Super Bowl Controversy Often Inflated
PHOENIX (WFAN) -- New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees isn't sure what to make of the "Deflate-gate" scandal.
But he's pretty certain there's a decent amount of rule-bending that goes on in the National Football League on a week-to-week basis.
"If you're asking me, does everybody try to find every edge they possibly can to win, then yes. Absolutely," Brees said Thursday on WFAN's "Boomer & Carton" show at radio row in Phoenix, Arizona. "Are there rules that get bent all the time? Probably."

Then again, it's a clear violation of the rules -- we're talking broken, not bent -- if the New England Patriots are found to have intentionally deflated 11 of 12 footballs used in the AFC Championship game. The team has denied any wrongdoing and an NFL investigation is ongoing.
Brees wondered if the controversy has been inflated due to what's at stake Sunday when the Patriots take on Seattle in Super Bowl XLIX. He likened the media attention on the topic to Richard Sherman's much-discussed rant ahead of last year's game.
"There's gotta be some controversy, right?" Brees said. "Typically, with this much attention, things get blown up to a much larger scale than maybe it needs to. But listen, I don't know. If there's rules broken, there's rules broken. Otherwise let's just move on and focus on (the Super Bowl)."
