Dozens Of Cats Found Living In 'Deplorable' Conditions At Central Islip Home
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Dozens of animals are being removed from a condemned home on Long Island.
Officials said as many as 50 cats and at least one dog were found living in deplorable conditions at the home on Bayonne Avenue in Central Islip.
"There was one dog removed from the home, I'm not sure of the age because it was so severely dehydrated it couldn't even stand," Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross told 1010 WINS.

The animals were discovered after police responded to the home to take an elderly woman to the hospital Friday morning.
Neighbors said the woman, who is believed to be in her 70s, is known as "Rosemarie" and had lived in the home for more than 40 years before it was boarded up in 2011.
At some point, it appears the woman returned to the residence and may have been living in her car, 1010 WINS reported.
Gross said the house is in "absolute deplorable condition."
"The floors are caving in, it's covered in feces, soaked in urine," Gross said.
Gross said many of the animals rescued from the home are "very sick" and might have to be euthanized.
The woman's condition is unknown.
Officials in Ulster County made a similar discovery Wednesday at a two-bedroom apartment in New Paltz. In that case, the Ulster County SPCA removed about 105 adult cats and kittens, most of which appeared to be healthy.
