Don't Panic: Flyovers Planned Over Hudson River
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ AP) -- The NYPD says flyovers are being conducting over the Hudson River.
It says the first one-hour flyover of a 1958 DC-7 sightseeing aircraft was planned for Thursday morning.
It was to travel south over the Hudson River to the Verrazano Bridge, then east toward Long Island, before returning to Teterboro Airport in New Jersey.
The same route is to be used Friday and Saturday.
Last April, an unannounced flyover involving an Air Force One backup terrified thousands of people as the Boeing 747 and an F-16 jet circled the Statue of Liberty and the lower Manhattan skyline near the World Trade Center site for a half hour.
