Domenico De Marco, owner of Di Fara Pizza in Brooklyn, dies at age 85
NEW YORK -- The owner of a well-known Brooklyn pizzeria has died.
Domenico "Dom" De Marco opened Di Fara Pizza at the corner of Avenue J and East 15th Street in 1965, six years after immigrating from Italy.
The Midwood shop's pies have been consistently named among the city's best. De Marco spent most of his time making the pizzas himself, creating what some food critics called "the city's best slices."
De Marco's daughter shared news of her dad's death on Facebook. He was 85.
