Disney Store Opens In Times Square
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Mickey Mouse and the rest of the Disney gang opened the doors to their new home in Times Square Tuesday.
Tinker Bell christened the new shop by sprinkling electronic pixie dust over the 20,000 square foot store -- the largest one in the Disney store franchise -- located inside the former Virgin Megastore at 1540 Broadway.

"Times Square says so much of who we are as a country and as a city," Brooklyn-born Diseny Chariman Bob Eiger told WCBS 880. "There's a vibrancy to it, there's innovation, there's energy, there's creativity and those are all words that are very appropriate for Disney as well."
The main floor of the store is dedicated to New York-themed souvenirs including Mickey Mouse Statue of Liberties and "I Heart New York" shirts with Mickey Mouse ears in place of hearts.
Children can also come and build their own "Cars" like the ones from the Pixar favorite.
The two-level store also features a 20-foot-tall "Princess Castle" and a digital billboard 68 feet above Times Square. It will be open 9 a.m. to midnight every day -- except Sunday, when it will close at 11 p.m.
