Day 2
The big question Friday revolved around Verizon and the iPhone.
Verizon announced a special event that will take place next week in New York. Who will be at that event and report back what Verizon announces? Our own Hawley.
The Wall Street Journal reports the special event in New York will be the announcement of a Verizon iPhone.
The upcoming event comes on the heels of Friday's huge announcement by Verizon on its high-speed LTE network. Ten new devices were introduced on the LTE network, including four new cell phones.

Aside from the speculation surrounding the iPhone, there were more interesting gadgets that were unveiled.
Hawley describes a GM EN-V project that is a personal vehicle similar to a Segway but has two seats and a covering over it so you are protected from the elements. The creator said they are also working on making this vehicle drive itself.

Pre-Convention:
Before CES officially opens, companies hold press conferences for journalists to get a sneak peek at what they can expect.
The show has become so popular that it has completely taken over the Convention Center, plus space in multiple hotels in the area.
Hawley said one of the toughest parts about covering this show is getting around and giving yourself enough time to get there.
One gadget that he has discovered has been especially useful -- a motion charging battery pack called nPower PEG that you can use to recharge your dead cell phone or computer on the go.
One major conference that usually breaks out new technology and devices fell short in breaking any new ground. Hawley said the hour-long presentation from Microsoft didn't live up to past years and failed to get the "ooos and ahhhs" from the discerning crowd.
A neat item for any gamers out there -- a 7-inch screen that reconfigures the keyboard that changes controls depending on what type of game you are playing. Play a game like World of Warcraft and the keys looks one way, then play a first-person shooter and the keys change to fit that game.
