Diamond Pet Foods Issues Voluntary Recall In New York Due To Salmonella Concerns
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Diamond Pet Foods has issued a voluntary recall of limited batches of their dry pet food manufactured between December 9, 2011, and April 7, 2012. The recall is due to salmonella concerns.
None of the recalled products have been tested for salmonella, the company reports, but they're being pulled as a precautionary measure.
The company has issued guidelines for consumers so that they can tell whether or not their dog food may be at risk. To do so, pet owners are encouraged to check the production codes on the back of the bags. If a code has either the number two or number three in the ninth or 10th digits, and an X in the 11th digit, then the bag should be discarded.
New York is one of 16 states in which Diamond Pet Foods' products have been recalled.
